Meet Our Doctors
Dr. Mike Biles, DVM
Retired Veterinarian
Mike graduated first in his class from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. After graduating, he worked in various places including practices in Albany, GA and Atmore, AL doing both small and large animal work. In 1996, Mike decided to strike out on his own and built Biles Animal Hospital. Mike lives in Bay Minette with his wife Betsy.
Dr. Jessica Ward, DVM
Managing DVM
Dr. Ward received her veterinary degree from Ross University School of Medicine. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor of Science degree at Auburn University. She has spent the following years practicing in Tennessee.
Dr. Ward’s talent will help us continue our promise of providing excellent service to you and your pet.
Dr. David Finlay, DVM
Veterinarian
David grew up in Montgomery, AL. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Biology from Auburn University Montgomery and graduated with honors from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Beginning his career in the Tampa Bay area, where he has a son named Luke, David returned to Alabama in 2008 after he and his wife purchased the practice. Dr. Finlay shares his home with wife Ashley, their sons Jack and Ben, their daughter Sadie and a vast array of pets.
Meet Our Staff
Courtney Stewart
Courtney has been part of the Delta Animal Hospital family since 2006, when she first joined the team as a Co-Op student. From the beginning, she has had a passion for caring for animals and helping wherever she is needed. Over the years, that passion has grown into a career dedicated to supporting every part of Delta.
Today, as Practice Manager, Courtney wears many hats. She enjoys helping care for patients, supporting clients, working alongside and encouraging the staff, and making sure the many moving parts of the hospital come together to provide the best experience possible. For her, being part of Delta is about more than just veterinary medicine—it’s about caring for the animals, the people who love them, and the team who makes it all happen.
Outside of work, Courtney enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors. Whether she’s at the beach, enjoying the river, working in the garden, or exploring somewhere new, she loves making the most of her time outside and creating memories with the people she loves.
Shelby Mitchem
Assistant
Shelby was born and raised in Bay Minette. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Allen, her daughter, Emma, and her multiple dogs and cats. She has always had a love for all animals and has owned everything from snakes, fish, turtles, bearded dragons, and birds.
DJ Brown
Assistant
DJ has been in the veterinary medicine field for five years and attended Coastal Community College and Troy University. He prides himself in being very compassionate and patient towards the animals in his care. In his free time, DJ likes to relax and recuperate by going to the beach and streaming his favorite shows. He’s a major foodie, and his favorite food is pasta alfredo.
Amy
Amy loves spending time with her family and, of course, all of her cats! A proud mom of four children, she feels incredibly fortunate to be part of such a great team and truly believes this is the best job ever. She has a passion for caring for animals and enjoys learning new skills that help her grow in veterinary medicine. One of the things she loves most about working with animals is knowing that she can make a difference in their lives and in the world around her.
When she’s not caring for patients, Amy enjoys relaxing with her family and spending time with her beloved cats. She is grateful for the opportunity to do what she loves every day alongside an amazing team.
Bethanee
Bethanee , a Licensed Veterinary Technician who has always had a passion for helping animals and the people who love them. She shares her home with three cats and two dogs, all of whom she loves dearly. In her free time, Bethanee enjoys going to the beach, thrifting, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Benjamin
Benjamin has always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, and he is currently enrolled in school working toward his degree to make that dream a reality. He loves working with animals and gaining hands-on experience while learning more about veterinary medicine. Being able to help animals and make a difference in their lives is one of the things he enjoys most about the field.
Outside of work and school, Benjamin enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. You can find him playing pickleball, swimming, kayaking, or hanging out with his friends.
Alexa
CSR
Hi, I’m Alexa! I’ve always had a deep love for animals, and I’m so happy to be part of the Delta Animal Hospital team. As a receptionist, I take pride not only in helping care for pets, but also in making sure their people feel welcomed, heard, and supported. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me in the kitchen baking sourdough or relaxing at home with my four cats who definitely run the household!
Bailee
Bailee is our Kennel Technician. She is the one who cares fur and bathes your babies during boarding. She and her wife Payton have made a home with 8 cats, 3 dogs, 2 goats, and a snake. Together, they enjoy raising neonatal kittens, traveling, trying new food, and anything else crazy life has in store for them. After starting at DAH in 2024, Bailee says she is so excited to continue to grow, learn, and be a part of our team.
Kayden
Kayden loves spending time with animals and helping them feel happy, healthy, and loved. One of her favorite things about working in veterinary medicine is being able to care for animals and make a difference in their lives.
Outside of work, Kayden enjoys shopping, spending time with her family, and hanging out with her dog, Hank. When she’s not at the clinic, you can usually find her enjoying time with the people and furry friend she loves most!
